A single-storey rear extension designed with a scale and form that complements the existing dwelling and maintains a clear visual hierarchy between the original property and the new addition. Large glazed openings to the rear elevation maximise natural light and provide stronger visual and physical connections to the garden, and the roof design keeps the extension visually subordinate to the main house while providing adequate internal headroom. External materials were selected to complement the existing property and may include rendered external wall finishes to match, matching roof tiles, powder-coated aluminium or uPVC windows and doors, matching fascias, soffits and rainwater goods, and a parapet wall with flat roof.

Building regulations
A full set of building-regulations drawings was prepared, covering the structure, insulation specifications, drainage layout and specification, windows and glazing, foundation details, floor, wall and roof build-ups, internal partitions and waterproofing, coordinated with a structural engineer.

Outcome
The outdated rear projection is replaced with a more functional and attractive extension providing valuable additional living space, increased natural daylight and improved connectivity to the rear garden. The scale, form and materials respect the character of the host property.
