Our design response
The garage door was replaced with a window and brick infill under a continued porch canopy, and the space fitted out with built-in timber seating and storage.
Planning route
Converting a garage within the existing structure is often permitted development, but a change to the frontage or an old planning condition can mean permission is needed — always confirmed against the specific property first.
Building regulations
A garage conversion needs building-regulations approval — insulation, damp-proofing, floor levels, ventilation and fire separation.
